Care is the new currency

I was really impressed about the topic after watching the video that Satya Nadella & Ryan Roslansky are talking on the New Era of Hybrid Work. It is inspirational. Here are my key takeaways from the 15-minute conversation.

  • “Care is the new currency”. I loved the phrase! Thoughtful and insightful.
  • 2 mega trends that are coming down the line for the world of work.
  • The trends what they call ‘Hybrid paradox’ and ‘Great reshuffle’.
  • Both trends are converging to change the workplace unlike anything in the last 100 years.
  • ‘Hybrid paradox’ describes the complexities around finding the right balance in hybrid work.
  • ‘Great reshuffle’ describes the fact that employees are not just making decisions about when, where and how they work, but also ‘why they work’.
  • Employees want the flexibility to work remotely but they’re also missing the human connection they get from being in an office. How can leaders manage both ends of the spectrum?
  • “It’s not always about the tools”.
  • Empathy is the leadership skill to master.
  • It’s about even greater management and employee connection.
  • “If there’s any piece of advice going into this world of the hybrid paradox is that what’s most needed is great leadership”.
  • “Great leadership which really truly enables us to connect with the changed expectations all around us. Because the flexibility is what people desire, but you need to be able to discern that flexibility and then to be able to really be in touch with the people that you lead.”

Care became everything. Managers being present, having the empathy and the compassion, building the trust between the people they are leading.
